If it continues to support the Joint Venture with knowledge (or reason to suspect) that improper payments may be ongoing, X could be significantly prejudiced in any proceedings before the anti-corruption enforcement authorities of the United States or other countries, who may view X's continuation in the business as evidence that X is intentionally pursuing the benefits of tainted business.
