El Volcánico Lavasen consiste principalmente de bancos macizos de piroclásticos grisáceos. La litología predominante es un tufo dacítico ó riolítico, y en menor proporción brechas y tufos andesíticos. Los derrames son poco comunes. Los volcánicos lavasen alcanzan un grosor máximo de 1,500m. y tentativamente se los ubica en el Pérmico medio.

my guess is that this is the same as the French tuffeau (a pale -coloured stone) which we call tufa.

yes, it is a type of limestone. This was a bit of a long shot, late at night - hence the low CR, but according to Chambers, tufa IS tuff!
