Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
A handwritten item on a doctor's receipt. THe "IV" could be "IU". Could it be referring to skin type IV?
And are we talking about light therapy here?

Yes, or extreme far ultraviolet. As we go "far" and more "far", the wavelength gets smaller and the enrgy higher.

IU=International Units

IU misread as IV
(9) A nurse misunderstood the abbreviation IU (international units) as IV (intravenous) in an order for vitamin E 200 IU. The term "units" is an acceptable denotation for "international units" and should be used in place of the IU abbreviation.

My error. I read your post as if the note said "the IV could be IU" and thought it was about IV's. Now that I read it again, it makes sense. Sorry about the mistake, working late and waking up early... :-)
Note from asker:
Thanks Maria! I did think of that, but there are 2 problems: the text is all Spanish on the receipt, so one would expect UI, not IU. Also, there is no number associated with the "IU", which would seem stange if it meant "international units". Unfortunately, I have no other text...
