English term

Homing

English to Japanese Tech/Engineering Medical: Instruments
It's an instruction manual for a medical equipment that moves around. One of the headlines in the text says "Start-up and Homing," and then explains how the "Homing" is done.
1. Position Robotic Arms
2. Press Home
3. If interference impedes homing, alarm will sound
4. Reposition arms
5. Re-attempt homing

I got a vague idea of what "Homing" is, but I cannot come up with a good Japanese version of it that's nice and short.

原点復帰、ホーミング

I believe that it is an operation to go back to the starting point (or origin) to make adjustments so that the components are at good position each time (to avoid some offset after repeated operations). Some manufacturers use Japanese term, others use katakana. It's a question of preference, I think.

原点復帰

In this case 原点復帰 is the exact Japanese word corresponding to "Home" and "Homing" (return to original position, back to home poisiton).

The example sentences would be as follows.

3. 干渉によって原点復帰ができない場合は、警報がなります。
5. 再度原点復帰を行ってください。
