Italian term

vantaggio concreto di ritorno

Italian to English Other Environment & Ecology
Talking about the varying degrees of envronmental awareness (uncommitted, ambivalent, committed) and what they claim are the compromises that all of these involve in one way or another. Here takling about the "ambivalents".

"Atteggiamento discontinuo, mutevole a seconda della situazione contingente; influenzabile, è il target sul quale ”lavorare” per creare e rafforzare una coscienza ambientale > compromesso tra la libertà di godere di ogni comodità e il vantaggio concreto di ritorno".

tangible benefit/feedback

As you hinted in your note to Tom, I think benefit would be appropriate for an environmental context.
As an alternative, I've also added 'feedback' which would certainly address the 'ritorno' bit: loss of comfort/gain on the well-being side.
Hope this belated posting helps, anyway.
Have a nice one,
Barbara

Hi, Pauley, and thanks for selecting my answer. Don't think I deserve the points, though, since you suggested benefit yourself and combined it with Tom's option.

tangible advantage in return

it's a completion of Tom's answer that sounds better to me

tangible return

I'd keep it simple. I think these 2 words do it.

this is not necessarily about money. In fact I think it may be more about "ritorno d'immagine"
Note from asker:
that's the reason i posted. i wasn't clear as to the nature of the "ritorno". i thought, for example, that it might refer to the benefits of good environmental practice. but "return" is a good term because it's as ambiguous as the original.
