faulty stent placement

Hola David y Carlos,

Carlos is right about the definition of "coaptación", but I think that stents are usually disucssed in terms of "placement". So, when discussing complications with the placement (insertion) of the stent (these are not really attached *per se*), it would be "faulty stent placement". Just my 2 cents.
Example sentence:

Dr. Alexander: Another potential explanation for stent thrombosis is faulty stent placement

Note from asker:
Thanks for your comment gqushair, as you say stents are inserted (implanted) but after they are implanted there are problems of attachment/fixation to the artery wall.

s shown in the schematic representation of FIG. 2, a preferred fixation process may include fitting a porcine aortic wall 16 that includes a valve, generally indicated as 14, with ring-like external and internal stents 23 and 25, respectively, mounted, with or without ligation, within the porcine aortic wall 16 proximal the outflow end 27 of the valve 14. The internal plug or stent 25 generally provides an attachment site to which appropriate pressure may be applied in order to maintain the valve 14 in a substantially closed position and achieve a desired coaptation between the cusps 17, 18 and 19. The pressure may be applied to the outflow end 27 by a conventional source (not shown) through an appropriate interface, such as tube 9, and may be monitored by a standard pressure gauge 33 to ensure that the pressure differential between the outflow end 27 of valve 14 and the surrounding solution 13 remains at a preferred level. In addition, ring shaped external and internal stents 23 may also be mounted to the inflow side, generally indicated as 31, of the valve 14 during the fixation process to maintain a preferred substantially circular shape as well as to promote the desired coaptation, suitably about 2 mm to about 4 mm of generally axial engagement, between the cusps 17, 18 and 19. The external and internal stents 23 and 25 typically are positioned circumferentially with respect to the external and internal circumferences of the aortic wall 16 of valve 14 proximal the inflow and 31 of the valve 14. Typically, the plug 25 and the internal and external stents 23, respectively, employed during fixation are selected to correspond to the size of the particular porcine valve 14 that is to be tanned and to the shape of the stent.

I do not agree.

Coaptation is the correct term here.

Yep, I have googled it.

I would still use "coaptation".

Not being a cardiologist, I tend to go with strict literal medical words.

coaptar.

(Del lat. coaptāre).

BTW
I don't translate as I wish and don't see myself as having the right to translate as I wish (otherwise I would be putting what the hell I liked!), but try to be as accurate as I possibly can, based on the limited knowledge I have at my disposal.
I expect when the cardiologist is working on the heart, he or she is doing their absolute best, based on the knowledge they have.
Note from asker:
Although coaptation is technically correct, most often used in tissue grafts and patents. The problems with stents is that they often don't fit very well at the proximal end and sometimes there are kinks which cause leaks. See:- http://apt.allenpress.com/perlserv/?request=get-abstract&doi=10.1583%2F08-2425.1&ct=1
Coaptation in the context I have given means attachment or fixation. Just Google "proximal coaptation", "proximal fixation" or "proximal attachment" to find out more
To end this discussion, you of course have the right to translate/interpret how you wish. I have enough experience in cardiology both in translation and a little practically as I also have a coronary artery stent implant. You must also remember that most authors although experts in their own work sometimes have to search for the right word too
