Almost all procedures to repair teeth involve the use of dental hand pieces which many people think of as “drills.” We refer to the high speed hand piece as “Mr. Whistle” and the slow speed hand piece as “Mr. Bumpy.” The sensations these instruments produce will be explained to the child in a non threatening manner.
