French term

dense

French to English Bus/Financial Business/Commerce (general)
This is from an anniversary edition of a company newsletter:

L'histoire partagée de Company A et de Company B est longue et **dense.** Nous avons le même esprit entrepreneurial, marqué par un engagement très fort des équipes dont une des sources est certainement l'actionnariat salarié important...

Thanks! (I do not want to leave "dense" as is)

Discussion

Sheila Wilson Sep 9, 2009:
glorious I'm fine with but can you really say "a long and storied career" in English? It certainly wasn't around when I was in London, but I know things haven't stood still
jmleger Sep 9, 2009:
Storied Adj. 1. storied - having an illustrious past
historied, celebrated
glorious - having or deserving or conferring glory; "a long and glorious career"; "our glorious literature"
Sheila Wilson Sep 9, 2009:
@Helga If you were to post your answer, I could agree with it. Thnks
Lori Cirefice Sep 9, 2009:
rich I like Helga's suggestion
Sheila Wilson Sep 9, 2009:
@ asker What were you thinking of using for "histoire"? I think the two need to be considered together, really
jmleger Sep 9, 2009:
dense en anglais américain, ça veut dire "idiot". Vaudrait mieux éviter, je dirais.
Helga Lemiere Sep 9, 2009:
idee J'ai l'impression que 'dense' n'a pas une signification négatiive ici pourquoi pas "rich' oder 'impressive' ?

Thank you, Lianne. I guess I dont have this brand on my side of the world :). I do prefer 'storied' anyway.

neutral Sheila Wilson : I've never heard of it - am I out of the loop now I've gone native in France?

disagree Dr Lofthouse : I wouldnt say this was in use in the UK - 'eventful' sounds more appropriate for a past with 'stories worth telling' in it
