Agree with Gill Yes, I also think that the text is referring to belief systems here- see my answer below.

Thanks! Had to send off the assignment this morning & I've asked for feedback on the terms (I'm not very optimistic though!!). I've no idea how I'm going to give you all points for your hard work and suggestions though!!!
Evans (X) Sep 17, 2009:
belief system or tracing line of descent I think a distinction has to be made here. Patrilineal usually refers to tracing ancestry through the male line, whereas the text here seems to be referring to a belief system in which the male is sole responsible for reproduction genetically

patrigenetic theory of reproduction

I have come across this. There are a few references to be found googling, but not many.

Patrilineal descent (theories or systems)

Wow, this was a tough one. The word does not have an equivalent in English, the nearest I found were these.

The description is identical to the Spanish one.

andro-centric theories of reproduction

I don't think matrilineal or patrilineal descent is the issue here, rather, folk beliefs that reproduction is due solely to the male consticbution, with the female seen as merely a vessel. It used to be believed that each sperm contained a 'homunculus'- a human being in miniature. I realise that andro-centric introduces a Greek rather than Latin etymology: maybe it should be contrasted with 'gynocentric' theories.

It seems they are all related to E.c. There are uxu and vir genes and they can take an additional, or two, letter. But that is how far I can go.
