Temperature increase ist international genormt und steht für Temperaturerhöhung. Erklärung: Alle Kunststoffe erweichen bei bestimmten Temperaturen, z. B. PVC bei ca. 100 °C. Die Grenztemperatur für PVC ist deshalb auf 70°C festgelegt worden. Wird ein Schaltschrank in tropischen Klima bei ca. 40 °C aufgestellt und im Inneren Wärme durch elektrische Geräte erzeugt, so steigt die Temperatur entsprechend an. Dies nennt man Temperaturerhöhung (oder Temperaturanstieg). Dieser Begriff in den deutschsprachigen Ausgaben internationaler Normen wird in der englischen Originalausgabe mit "temperature rise" bezeichnet.<br>Im obigen Beispiel darf die zulässige Temperaturerhöhnung nur 30 K betragen, um den Grenzwert für PVC nicht zu überschreiten.<br>Reicht die natürliche Konvektion nicht aus, die zuviel erzeugte Energie abzuführen und die Temperaturerhöhung dadurch unter den zulässigen Grenzwerten zu halten, so muß zusätzliche Maßnahmen ergriffen werden, z.B. durch Lüftung mit Ventilatoren.

Die Temperaturüberhöhung ist der Betrag, um den die Innentemperatur die Umgebungstemperatur übersteigen darf, bevor sie wieder fällt (analoges gilt bei den unteren Temperaturgrenzen so vorhanden). Ihr Beispiel ist also rechnerisch richtig. Für den engl. Begriff würde ich nach "excess temperature", "temp. offset", "temp. overshoot" oder "permissible (temp.) excess" suchen. Gruß.

As to whether "Überhöhung" means the same as "Erhöhung", the dictionary reference I gave says "Überhöhung" is superelevation, while "Erhöhung" is elevation, so they are not the same.

UL tests

Temperature-rise
UL have carried out tests on complete switchboards up to 5000A. The temperature-rise did not exceed 65K with tin plated copper bars or 50K with none plated copper bars. Likewise, the temperature-rise in motor starter units did not exceed maximum limit.

disagree Cilian O'Tuama : Mag sein, dass es kein guter deutscher Ausdruck ist, aber "offensichtlich" ist anders. It's about a temp. difference between two things, not a "rise" in temp. of one.//Then you'll agree "rise" is wrong.

Hier geht es um die zulässige Temperaturdifferenz zur Umgebungstemperatur. Das Thema kenne ich aus eigener Erfahrung (16 Jahre Prüfer elektrischer Geräte). Siehe weitere Referenzen. // Natürlich kenne ich auch UL- und internationale Normen auf Englisch.

You could also say something along the lines of "temperature differential," even though that doesn;t indicate which way the difference goes, up or down.

Yes, the ambient temp is the one outside the Schrank. The Innentemperatur is inside the Schrank. We are in agreement!
neutral Elisabeth Kissel : I read it to mean that the temperature inside the Schrank is only supposed to be a max.XX degrees higher than the environment around it. Therefore I would put in something like 'does not exceed the temperature of the environment around the Schrank by XXX.

Yes, it´s too high with respect to the set temperature threshold (at which regulation starts) - not with respect to the acceptable component temperature. The term suggested is correct in this context - and common.
