Instituut voor (Ecologische) Pedagogiek

Dutch to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
Dag allemaal,

http://www.masters.hu.nl/AlleMasteropleidingen/Master Ecolog...

Enig idee?

Dank!
Els

Well stone the crows! I spoke too soon! It seems ecology has taken a new meaning in English too (or has it been used in this form for longer?). The links for 'child ecology' are convincing, and although the use is not described in the OED, in that case, your suggestion sounds fine, Els.

Dag allemaal!

Groetjes,
Els

Institute for (Holistic) Pedagogics/Pedagogy/Education

Having looked at the course description, I wonder why Holistische Pedagogiek was not chosen as the title in Dutch. It is true that Holistics usually has a more medical connotation but at least that connotation brings to bear a focus on the individual person in relation to the whole, with the whole being more than the sum of its parts. In contrast, Ecological brings to mind waste products, soil cultivation, "clean" fuel, ozone layers and a host of other considerations which are focussed on the environment but not necessarily on the individual.

agree Oliver Pekelharing : Though I also wonder why they use 'ecologische'. Methinks it's a new buzzword in Dutch social science... I know what you mean, who could have dreamt we'd have to add 'ecologisch = holistic' to our glossaries!!

Thanks, Olly - Do you think there's a hope they could change it?
agree Tina Vonhof (X) : I wouldn't add it to the glossary though....
