This is the title of a piece dealing with how "gender factors" cut across all the reasons that underlie "pay disparity"/"the pay gap".
I've been wrestling with how to express "eje transversal" or recast the basic idea -- it doesn't need to be an exact translation but it needs to include all the elements in some way. Grateful for any suggestions!

Comment: "ugly as it sounds, I think that this is probably the best and more in tune with sociological usage, though "common thread" or theme would probably express the essential idea more colloquially in most contexts.
