chord of a reinforced column

Chord in a mathematical sense--a line that cuts through a circle.
"A chord of a curve is a geometric line segment whose endpoints both lie on the curve. A secant or a secant line is the line extension of a chord."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chord_(geometry)

"Where I0 and A are the moment of inertia about the axis of bending and the area of the chord, respectively"
http://thespectrusgroup.com/pdfs/WIRE_FRAME_MODELING.doc

"c is the relevant moment of inertia of the chords."

agree Sergio Campo : Agree with chord. IMO, this being a steel column, with chords, the word "armada" does not mean "reinforced" (as in a concrete element) but "laced" or "latticed"

agree asptech : "latticed", not "reinforced"
