inglés term

carpet sample

inglés al español Otros Muebles / Aparatos domésticos carpet
I'm trying to find the Spanish term (and the English, in fact) for the small samples of carpets held together in like a booklet, which you look through when you want to choose a carpet for your home. I have the Enligsh term given as "carpet snatch" but I can't find that anywhere. If anyone can give me both the EN and ES - that'd be great!

Discussion

philgoddard May 9, 2010:
Cinnamon is right - the individual pieces of carpet are called swatches, and a book of them is called a swatch book or swatchbook. I've taken the liberty of changing this to Eng-Sp because I think that will be more useful for glossary purposes.
Cinnamon Nolan May 9, 2010:
Carpet sWatch, not carpet sNatch Theses samples are often called carpet swatches, although the term is more common with fabrics (fabric swatch).

¡Saludos!

Thanks Margaret. The word "alfombra" may also be used frequently. In any case, I think the key word Anya was looking for is muestrario.
agree neilmac : moqueta = fitted carpet in Spain. In-store they even call it "librito de muestras"...

Cheers and thanks Neil. I agree that people informally say "librito" as well.
agree Cinnamon Nolan : Yes, for Spain.

afternoon and thanks, Cinnamon. Thanks again for the "swatch" above. Carpet snatch sounds a bit turbid...
