Przypuszczam, że chodzi o spandrel, czyli "trójkątne naroże między grzbietem łuku a ścianą boczną" (za: Koch, Style w architekturze", choć zazwyczajmówi się o pachwinie a. pasze łuku, a nie o ścianie pachwinowej.

O ile rozumiem, jeśli spandrels są "na dwie strony", i w dodatku wypełnione (bo wypełnione być nie muszą - patrz obrazki w linku Polangmara) powstaje spandrel wall - tak masz w linku do Britanniki, który podałam.

| Dziękuję. Na pewno "spandrel", jednak chyba z dodatkiem "wall". Znalazłam takie definicje w necie: Spandrel wall: 1) A wall on the outer surface of a vault to fill the spandrels. 1) A wall built on the extrados of an arch, filling in the spandrels. I jeszcze przykładowy opis Makestos Bridge: On the exterior, a pair of arched niches was set into the spandrel wall, with an additional, twice as large niche at the downstream side in between.[2] These half-open spandrels were meant to further relieve the dead load on the bridge. The retaining walls, just as the breakwaters, were built with carefully hewn limestone blocks. |

: Samo "spandrel" to tylko pachwina, natomiast ś. p. to ściana z pachwinami, więc musi być "spandrel wall" - prawdę mówiąc, też opierałem się na poprzednim pytaniu (http://www.proz.com/kudoz/3803648 ), ale nie zdążyłem go wkleić.:-(
