is the correct term for both HGB and IFRS accounting. (Please ALWAYS tell us what accounting standards are being used as it does make a difference.) Accruals is US-GAAP.

I disagree - accruals is a general financial term - used regularly with invoices that are accrued from one month to the next (one example)

: Sorry, but Rückstellungen are only translated (convenience translation) as "accruals" in US GAAP accounting. Accruals in HGB (German/Austrian) or IFRS accounting are "abgegrenzte Schulden", which are not the same as "Rückstellungen".

I have seen and have used "allowances".

: "Allowances" are something else, normally "Wertberichtigungen". Rückstellungen are provisions, i.e. liabilities of uncertain timing/amount.
