Discussion

Gene Selkov Aug 11, 2010:
Tonne is just a British spelling of ton.
Anton Konashenok Aug 11, 2010:
Be careful with units. The metric unit equal to 1000 kg is properly called a TONNE rather than a ton. A ton is 2240 pounds - close enough to be very frequently confused.

Missed it, too; "have cranes up to 50 ton" would also do it if you optimize for brevity.
Gene Selkov Aug 11, 2010:
I didn't look at it this way. I assumed all cranes had the same capacity. Then, I would say, "... equipped with a range of cranes of various capacity, up to 50 ton". Of course, 50 ton is nothing in particular, as far as harbour cranes go; it is close to the bottom of the range, I think.

а как передать "ДО" 50т? Это значит, что могут быть и 20 и 30 т.
up to 50-ton cranes?
Gene Selkov Aug 11, 2010:
just say, 50-ton cranes.
