I am trying to come out with a politically correct translation for "senior citizen." The context is a letter of welcome and a questionnaire addressed to managed/assisted living residents.

: In the west, simply put: it refers to persons who have reached a certain age to be called seniors. It has no relations to their place/status in society, or if they were retired.

Avoid PC affliction and contortions about references to [ahem] senior persons' ages (using "senior citizens" is awkward enough in the English, before one has to struggle with creating an equivalent in the Arabic).
OK for the speaker to address the audience with these suitable honorifics: Saadaatii wa saidaatii al-3zaa'
