middle-class

I think it may come from the french word "honnête"
Definition of HONNÊTE HOMME. : honest man : respectable and honorable citizen of the middle class.
According to Tanums store rettskrivningsordbok, honette means hederlig, anstendig or sømmerlig

bourgeois

I think this is a good option. It means middle-class, basically, but since it is a "fancy" word in Norwegian, I'd go for a fancy word in English.
