When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.
Proposed translations
-"- dip
- hole: when there is a shortage in some age group (see examples provided by Rubiko). This postulates the fact itself without much relation to the population graph, this is implicit only;
- dip or trough: more specifically relate to the population graph and the dip in it, doesn't really imply any shortage - less doesn't equate not enough.
Without extra context I would go with "dip".
demographic trough
Demographic hole
The comprehensive report identifies a “demographic hole” in the country’s business leadership pool of 35 to 50 year-olds. This “fast-emerging” shortage could create a potential leadership deficit of some 40,000 people.*

demographic gap
example:
http://pgblazer.com/2010/08/demographic-gap.html
"Demographic gap is the difference between birth rate and death rate that develops when a country undergoes demographic transition"
Although you can find other definitions as well.
demographic bust
Does the article describe the demographic effects encompassed by this term? I believe this period included both an increase in death rates and a decline in birth rates. In that case, it would occur to me to use demographic dip or demographic bust.
Demographic hole or trough are not terrible, but more context might get to a more expressive term.
