: Actually this is half correct: It's the 'Abgänge' of the 'fallopian tubes'

tubal ostium (ostium of the fallopian tube)
The entrance to the fallopian tube is called the ostium. (from Latin - opening?) I worked in this field and can confirm this is the correct term.
Example sentence:
Hysteroscopy for evaluation of tubal ostium pathology
Hysteroscopic detection and treatment of adhesions at the tubal ostium/uterine junction in infertile patients
Note from asker:
Thanks, I think I'll go with "tubal ostium (opening)" to placate lay audience. Thanks to Doublehhoo, too. |
Thanks a lot, Heart, you are absolutely right. If this were a discharge letter, I'd definitely go with ostium/ostia, but since it's for lay audience, I had to compromise :) I hope 'proximal' will be understood [uff!] Sorry I could not split points. |

John Hein-Hartmann
: There is no doubt this is the correct medical term, but if if we are speaking of a lay audience, would they understand it?

entrances to the Fallopian tubes (from the womb)
If we are speaking of a lay audience for this text, wouldn't this be more comprehensible? It also ties in with the semantics of the word "Abgang" - abgehen - go/going from.

Thank you all for the inspiration I lacked yesterday :)
