Russian term

знакотехника

Russian to English Bus/Financial IT (Information Technology) systems analysis (maybe IT)
Требуются специальные формы организации совместных работ людей, а также специальные техники схематизации и **знакотехнической** работы, без которых ни снять опыт, ни упаковать, ни передать, ни употребить его на новом месте попросту невозможно.

The translator put "sign-technical work." The editor (me), says, "Huh??"

Thanks in advance!
(I'm only guessing that it has to do with IT.)

Discussion

The Misha Jul 20, 2011:
Personally, I like this one best УПС в рабочей действительности учебно-воспитательного процесса целевой подготовки означивается формой эпистемической единицы "педагогическая ситуация".

Every time I come across someone saying something like this - I mean, saying it for real, I have an irresistible urge to pat the poor sob (yeah, they are usually men) on the back and maybe give him a lollipop. Susan, it doesn't really matter what you do with it, you may as well leave it as is.

Thank you, KB If you think this word is bad, you should see the rest of the document.
Kiwiland Bear Jul 20, 2011:
Please accept my sincere commiserations Susan... That's all I can say after checking the links you provided. This excerpt coming from there:

" Ближайшей целью создания лаборатории было снятия ограничений на участие ее первых сотрудников (...) в игровом и методологическом движении"

says it all.
Susan Welsh (asker) Jul 20, 2011:
@Misha I guess it's intangible, insofar as специальные техники схематизации are intangible. I refrain from comment on the quality of the writing, so as not to jeopardize my future employment.

some links These links don't clarify anything for me, but maybe someone will "get it." I don't think it's just making signs, like road signs.

Coding? They are talking about something intangible, right? Otherwise, it could be labeling in the widest sense possible. There is no such thing as zhakotekhnicheskaya rabota anyway. That's just an early symptom of someone's early Alzheimer's

It has to do with semiotics.
Please see:
Semiotics, also called semiotic studies or (in the Saussurean tradition) semiology, is the study of signs and sign processes (semiosis), indication, designation, likeness, analogy, metaphor, symbolism, signification, and communication. Semiotics is closely related to the field of linguistics, which, for its part, studies the structure and meaning of language more specifically. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semiotics
and also this article may be helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language

Example sentence:

Semiotically speaking, these different sign methods of marking one's waythough the forest make us think of our social and cultural world as a series of sign systems, comparablewith language.

sign-mapping work

Just a suggestion. I am not sure that this is the right term. The references on the Internet are mostly about road signs and astrology.
