German term

bei der Serie

German to English Tech/Engineering Manufacturing
Context:

"Gültigkeitserw. erfolgt über PM; BU unterschreiben erfolgt bei der Serie)"

BU are Bauunterlagen, so that is not a problem, but I'm a bit baffled by "erfolgt bei der Serie". Could it be something like "bei Serienreife" (upon readiness for series production)?

Discussion

David Williams (asker) Sep 21, 2011:
I can only presume that Gültigkeitserw. = Gültigkeitserweiterung
and
PM = project manager
but I doubt it makes any difference to the second clause.
Tony Smith (X) Sep 21, 2011:
(1) Gültigkeitserw. (2) PM Could you give us the expanded forms, please ?
philgoddard Sep 21, 2011:
It could mean "for serial production run", but I don't think we have enough context (this may not be your fault).
David Williams (asker) Sep 21, 2011:
Alternatively, it may mean "von der Serienfertigung" i.e. "von der Serienfertigungsabteilung".

Models are not made by the series-production process. Process-specific problems cannot be discovered until tests are made with this process – just prior to the series start-up. As with the classic approach, this leads to increased complexity for modifications just prior to and during series start-up.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "This definitely seems to be what is meant in this context."

would be my suggestion as the signature is probably made once the approval has been made for the series
