"In transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE or TEE) the probe is placed in the oesophagus. This brings the probe close to the heart, enabling high quality images to be obtained. The TOE is highly sensitive and specific means of detecting cardiogenic LA and left atrial appendage (LAA) embolism."
