Dear forum,
I don't understand combination of "csak" with "szolid mertekben" here:
[NAME] mindkét szemére nagyfokú rövidlátó, a rövidlátás okozta szemfenéki elfajulások már felfedezhetők és látáséllesége korrekcióval is csak szolid mértékben javítható.
"csak" suggests a limitation, whereas "szolid" suggests that the improvement was very big. What am I missing?

In this context szolid rather means small and minor. Szolid can be associated with positive things, but here it means that it can improved to a minor/small extent. "Csak szolid mértékben" has a pretty different meaning than if we say that somebody is szolid.
If somebody is szolid we say steady, respectable, modest (usually positive attributes). But when we say csak szolid mértékben we mean only to a minor/small extent (not that positive).

I misread one part from Jilt's sentence. He wrote:

I read it as
"csak" suggests a limitation, whereas "szolid" suggests that the acuity disorder was very big.
So I wold change this first sentence of mine in the explanation:

But this is correct -> "csak" suggests a limitation, whereas "szolid" suggests that the acuity disorder was very big. "
If Jilt meant as tömör (in English solid) then yes he felt into a lingustics trap. Because szolid here doesn't mean solid in English.

The Hungarian "szolid" sounds like the English "solid" but it denotes a completely different concept.
