Hello, This is my first post here, and I'd be grateful for any help.
I am struggling to find a way to translate cuña in the following context:
Actualmente existen en el territorio 606 cuñas instaladas, que prestan servicio al público en telefonía, telégrafo, fax y comunicación con cualquier parte del mundo, además se cuenta con 8 teléfonos públicos en buen estado...
The extract is from an international development report on the services available in 25 rural communities and three urban neighbourhoods covering 300km2 of a municipality of Matagalpa (Nicaragua), population just under 16,000.
I was wondering if it could mean telecoms lines or outlets of some description?

Empresa Nicaragüense de Telecomunicaciones (Enitel) donó recientemente a la Biblioteca Nacional No Vidente “Luis Braile”, una línea telefónica. La entrega la hizo el director general de la empresa Carlos Ramos y la recibió la directora de la institución Rosario Rodríguez.
Durante el evento celebrado en las instalaciones de la biblioteca, Rodríguez dijo sentirse muy agradecida con la empresa por la donación de la cuña telefónica.
“cuando me dijeron que nos habían regalado la línea, me emocione tanto que hasta lloré”, afirmó.
