Italian to English Art/Literary Architecture Renovation of a stately home

Deciding how far the renovation should consider the needs of the new owners and how far preservation of the old should prevail.....

Good old Italianese/architectise! Are the 'apparati decorativi' everything that is 'decorative/an embellishment', i.e. including statues, furnishings etc, or does it refer only to architectural embellishments, i.e. things fixed to the walls, doors etc? (we also already have the 'elementi architettonici'..... or does the adjective 'architettonici' also refer to the spazi, i.e. how the spaces were originally distributed? aaaargh!)
And how to translate apparati decorativi ? (maybe there is a catch-all equivalent in English architectese?)
