Από τις ως άνω αναφορές διαπιστώνουμε ότι ο αγγλικός όρος μπορεί να έχει δύο διαφορετικές έννοιες :

Α. Δαπάνες μέσω τρίτων (π.χ. εταιρείες παροχής υπηρεσιών) το κόστος των οποίων ο πωλητής μεταβιβάζει στον αγοραστή. (π.χ. έξοδα μεταφοράς)

Β. Δαπάνες τις οποίες καταβάλλει ο αγοραστής το κόστος των οποίων του αντικαταβάλλει ο πωλητής ή προμηθευτής.
