Swedish to English Medical Medical (general) eye notes

Had to write more than just "an" to get the question to register since you need at least 3 characters.
Again, following a retinal detachment operation:
gk grumlingar mest nertill, makula an, hyggl circ i papill

I'm wondering what on earth the "an" could be?
Hopefully someone who's seen something like this before might know. If it helps, things are considered to be looking quite good following the op.
