German term
Kugelmessmethode
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Aerospace / Aviation / Space
aircraft hydraulics
The term "Kugelmessmethode" appears in the context of a requirement description for aircraft hydraulics.
Anforderungen an die Sonderstutzen
Fertigungs- und QS-Maßnahmen
Fertigung im unteren Gewinde-Toleranzbereich
*Kugelmeßmethode* zur Beurteilung der Dichtflächen
Sichtprüfung auf Grat- und Riefen¬freiheit
I am not familiar with this term or method and could not find meaningful results via google search.
Any pointers appreciated! Thank you.

: Certainly a possibility, but to me Dichtfläche implies a (usually metallic) surface, rather than a seal, which I would call a Dichtung.

I do also think of metal surfaces when I read Dichtfläche, but to be honest - a Stutzen usually doesn't have a Dichtfläche, it's the flange at the end of the Stutzen. Anyhow, you may very well be right about me being wrong ;-)

I haven't been able to find this either, but I don't think it relates to hardness testing, which would probably be done at the material selection stage. They would be far more likely to insert a ball into a hydraulic connection stub to either a) check the seal around the circumference or b) (more likely) to determine the possible ovality of the sealing surface of a tubular fitting by measuring the depth to which a standard ball could be inserted. Difficult to say without more context.

The ball impact test is developed as a package-level measure of the board
I am pretty sure that this is just another expression for Kugelschlagprüfung oder Fallhärteprüfung

Discussion
e.g. http://www.krob.eu/products.aspx?p=1 In this case, the "ball measurement method" would still be ok, or "ball inspection/testing method" could be used. If in doubt, I'd go with literal every time, but hopefully more context will clarify matters.
