I'm checking whether I've been translating this correctly in the past.
In my current project, a sentence in the CT report says: "Formazione nodulare (8mm) nel lobo polmonare inferiore dx, in sede "parailare".
I would just translate this as "parahilar" (...in the parahilar region...) but when I check to confirm this online, I see that there are many, many more references to "perihilar" ... google tries to steer me toward this term.
Are these interchangeable? Does it make any difference if I say "perihilar" in this translation, or are they really two distinct locations? I think of the prefix "para" meaning "next to, by, near" ... and the prefix "peri" meaning "around" something, but I don't know my anatomy well enough to know whether there are lymph nodes "around" as well as "near" the hilum which are detected in CT scans
