: But we wouldn't use 'patte' for an XLR connector. / Normally, 'broche' — we use 'patte' for the pin on an IC etc., where it really translates the informal EN jargon term 'leg' / Also, it isn't 'output pin' but 'the pin on the o/p XLR' (= connector type)

: Yes, there are 2 commonly-confused standards for XLR, but pin 2 high is the more usual one; the 'GND' pin is always the same one, but the other two can sometimes be reversed (or balanced, of course!)
