No, in English, we are far more likely to put it like i suggest, then say "...and run it for ten minutes". It's just a question of style, and German style differs from the English style.

Isn't it sometimes so much easier in German...

This is derived from Routledge Chemical Technology, which gives "Vorlage" as receiving flask, so I'd say it's a fair derivative.
