German term

beeinflussbare

German to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals scientific publication for clinical trial of a drug
Here's the complete sentence in which this phrase occurs:
Es ist auffällig, dass die unverblindet durchgeführten Studien zwar ebenfalls wie die Studie XXX eine erhöhte Mortalität für Präparat Y aufwiesen, der durch den behandelnden Arzt durch seine Berichte beeinflussbare als primär definierte Parameter „clinical cure" jedoch für Präparat Y günstigere Resultate erbrachte.

Is the grammar correct in this sentence? Does 'beeinflussbare' describe 'Resultate'?
Is this a good rendering for this sentence?
It is striking that the studies performed unblinded actually exhibited increased mortality for preparation Y just like the XXX study, which however, yielded influenceable but more favorable results for preparation Y by the treating physician through his reports than the primary defined parameter “clinical cure”.

Discussion

BrigitteHilgner Apr 8, 2013:
The sentence is correct Let's look at the essential part:
Es ist auffällig, dass ... der durch den behandelnden Arzt ... beeinflussbare ... Parameter ...
i.e. the parameter "clinical cure" can be influenced by the the treating physician. (I don't like "influenceable", I would prefer "which can be influenced".)

I agree completely with Stefan, who has parsed this very complex (though grammatically correct) sentence.

influenecable

beeinflussbar describes Parameter. So roughly, I think it means:
It is striking that, although the unblinded studies also yielded higher mortality for Preparation Y, the primary parameter of clinical cure, which is influenceable by the treating physician, yields more favorable results for Preparation Y.

Hope that helps,

Stefa
