Wikipediaなんかを読んだ感じでは60年台のニューヨークでアンディ・ウォーホルなどと関係した人物のようなのでこういう感じではどうかと思いました。アンダーグラウンドとかアバンギャルドなどが合っているような気がします。教祖ではなく代表者などもいいかもしれませんね。ただ意訳すぎるかもしれません。
