counterfoil and coupons
I'm familiar with coupons, but these references to counterfoil fit the definition of talonger ... in the context of investing ...'shares and bonds). See where this leads you!

Comment: "This question, or rather the issue it raises, raises an interesting, basic question.
Does the translator write "what the customer intended to say," </i>or</i> does the translator write "what the customer actually wrote, even if the original has an obvious error in it." ?
In this particular case, Sven is entirely correct (and 10 points for that), that </i>talonger</i> does mean "talons," however the specific terms in the question relate to shares, and not bonds. Talons, as I understand it, only relate to bonds, and have no connection to shares of a company.
In which case, Deane is correct is suggesting that the more general term "counterfoil" should be used, as this is what </i>the document meant to say</i> (in which case, the translation corrects an inadvertent error by the customer.
Definition Talons:

Another alternative!

Note from asker:
Renewal slip? That's interesting. I've never heard of that. |
