Swedish term

våldsskingring

Swedish to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
Terms and conditions of a contract. A type of information that is prohibited, along with, for instance, defamatory information.
I am wondering how to phrase this and whether the emphasis is on "incitement/encouragement" or "publication/dissemination/propagation".

Discussion

Adrian MM. (X) Jun 25, 2013:
@Anna H I have posted Deane's answer as an alternative attributed to him, but it is a speculative one based on a mis-spelling and non-existence of the term posted.
Anna Herbst Jun 25, 2013:
@Deane Post your reference as an answer (including the English equivalent of course) to get the points you deserve.

dissolving of violence

A concoction of my own but seems to exist
Peer comment(s):

disagree Anna Herbst : Kan man skingra våld?

Ja om våld (som troligen här) = våldstendenser/våldsyttringar. Har du ett bättre förslag (vilket man bör ha om man disagrear)

Swedish term (edited): våldsskingring vs. -skildring

playing down vs. depiction of violence

if the right spelling of the question is -skingring and not -skildring, depiction as suggested by Deane.
Peer comment(s):

agree Kristian Andersson : I agree with 'depiction of violence', the term 'våldsskingring' does not seem to exist!

Tack ska du ha or, in the word(s) of Sven P., ödmjukast!
disagree Anna Herbst : I have no idea what you mean, Tom. "Playing down" something means "tona ner", "avdramatisera". Are you suggesting that "våldsskingring" has the same meaning? If so, why would it be prohibited?

Playing down means defusing the effect of violence and making it harmless. I've no idea if it's an offence in Sweden.

våldsskildring

I'd like to see more context in Swe. But this seems to be what you are looking for -- depictions of violence -- which is standard in 'terms and conditions' for internet use and such.

Note from asker:
The context as in terms and conditions for internet use etc, as suggested here is correct. I agree also that it should probably be "olaga våldsskildring". Consequently, "depictions of violence" makes sense.
I'd like to give the points to Deanne - no idea how I do that!

Are you saying you want Eng in the header? Felt this was changing the question by suggesting a different term.
agree Kristian Andersson : Håller med om att det troligtvis ska vara våldsskildring!

agree Anna Herbst : As far as I know, the word "våldsskingring" does not exist, and if the concept did indeed exist, why prohibit it? On the other hand, "våldsskildring" is often prohibited in contracts. It is therefore safe to assume there is a typo in the Swedish text.
