English term
Monkey deck
English to Spanish
Tech/Engineering
Ships, Sailing, Maritime
El contexto es un barco que va a la Antártica. Esta es la oración: "I stood on the monkey deck as we went in and the wind was a freezing hurricane".
Monkey deck, no sé cómo traducirlo. Sé que es un término técnico, pero no lo encuentro en ningún diccionario náutico.

cubierta del castillo
If "monkey deck" is the highest deck on a ship, I guess "cubierta del castillo" could be the translation.

crow's nest - Specifically a masthead constructed with sides and sometimes a roof to shelter the lookouts from the weather, generally by whaling vessels, this term has become a generic term for what is properly called masthead. See masthead.
masthead - A small platform partway up the mast, just above the height of the mast's main yard. A lookout is stationed here, and men who are working on the main yard will embark from here. See also Crow's Nest. I also posted a photo in my response to you.

Crow's Nest
The raven, or crow, was an essential part of the Vikings' navigation equipment. These land-lubbing birds were carried on aboard to help the ship's navigator determine where the closest land lay when weather prevented sighting the shore. In cases of poor visibility, a crow was released and the navigator plotted a course corresponding to the bird's flight path because the crow invariably headed towards land.
The Norsemen carried the birds in a cage secured to the top of the mast. Later on, as ships grew and the lookout stood his watch in a tub located high on the main mast, the name "crow's nest" was given to this tub. While today's Navy still uses lookouts in addition to radars, etc., the crow's nest is a thing of the past.

Siento el sinsentido de todo esto. El/la que pregunta no dice nada... Todo puede ser, dependerá de la época en que el navío se hizo a la mar...La "Antártica" suena a tremendos temporales, de toda la vida. Un saludo a los dos.

Orlop deck. The lowest in the ship. In old battle ships this deck was below the water line; the cockpit and certain of the store rooms were upon it.
Poop deck. One covering the after part of a vessel and forming a poop.
Promenade deck (on passenger ships). A deck covering the saloon, usually reserved to the use of first-class passengers.
