The meaning of a plated meal is a meal that is already on a plate or more of a container, like the ready-made meals sold to be reheated in a microwave. Some of those meals can't be stirred due to the nature of the dish. Therefore a low heat setting will allow the whole meal to heat up properly.

I think the western culture gives great emphasis to food presentation more so than we do, plated meal simply means a meal that is ready to be served after being "plated" in an aesthetic manner to please the consumer. If you ever watch programs like master chef that involves "restaurant meal preparation rituals" you'll see this term referenced a lot. Look up food plating HTH
