It's not so much that I don't know how to translate it - I don't even know what the author really means!! I think it's a reference to the fact that people love to go up to the heights to 'see the snow' . There are definitely no shops/businesses nearby, or even on the island, that make a living from snow, winter sports and the like. Quite the contrary!!
Any ideas?

Not clear to me what business or income is generated by the snow days, so my proposal 'hedges' the matter: speaking of a 'star attraction', the snow-covered mountains which are stars either for the income (admission fees to parks? equipment rentals?), or simply for bringing in the most people.
I thought of Simon Bruni's excellent, recent translation of the phrase 'alcanzan su mayor protagonism(o)' but somehow couldn't see my way to working 'glory/glorious' into this one. His proeza is worth a look if you haven't seen it:

I see a nice proposal has been posted involving the phrase 'main attraction' which is also good. It got me thinking why 'star' seemed so right to me; I guess it's the source word 'protagonista'... A sampling of 'star attractions', some of them creatures, others inanimate/scenic wonders etc.:
