Spanish term

Universidad Mayor

Spanish to English Other Education / Pedagogy certificado de estudios
Se trata de una escolaridad universitaria de Uruguay.
El documento dice: Universidad de la República, Universidad Mayor, Facultad de Derecho.

He visto las respuestas sugeridas para una consulta similar anterior sobre el equivalente de *universidad mayor*. Pero no sé si eliminar esa frase y dejar simplemente *University of the Republic, Law School*
Gracias.

I would just ignore it in this context. The original name of the university was Universidad Mayor de la República, but the modern name is Universidad de la República. I'm not sure why "Universidad Mayor" is in your text.

Note that there is a university in Chile simply called "Universidad Mayor", but based on your explanation, I assume it can't be referring to this.

agree Charles Davis : I think you're right; it's just a tradition. It would need a note in English, if included, and it's not worth it. Explanation here: http://www.ccee.edu.uy/ensenian/catderpu/material/univmayor....

agree Beatriz Zorron-Minhondo : Estoy totalmente de acuerdo. Yo lo dejaría University of the (Oriental) Republic of Uruguay. En cuanto a Facultad de Derecho, mi opción sería: School of Law. Suerte Ana.
