It just happenst to be the best answer, as found in numerous proz examples of this term in the past. And the fact that I use it is indeed a good reason why it is more likely to be correct than virtually any other. Do you actually disagree with it?

: Yes, rather than "capacity" it is, as you say, "standing" as plaintiff (US)/claimant (E&W) and defendant, or the often seen "standing to sue and be sued"
