Czech term

sladká tečka

Czech to English Social Sciences Cooking / Culinary
Míněno: něco sladkého na konec menu. Jak to šikovně přeložit? "Sweet dot" se mi prostě nějak nezdá. :) Předem díky!

Having thought about it during the weekend I finally decided for the icing on the cake. Stuart, I'd love to give you points for your help - please post your reply :)

Happy ending? Oh never mind my little innuendos. Icing on the cake's great.
Charles Stanford May 29, 2014:
You should post that as an answer Stuart
Stuart Hoskins May 29, 2014:
“delicious catering provided by our amazing chefs will be the icing on the cake” http://www.top10weddingsites.com/wedding-reception-sites.htm...
Hannah Geiger (X) May 29, 2014:
I would probably go with 'sweet finale' (which is very similar to what Jan has).
Stuart Hoskins May 29, 2014:
Cherry and icing occurred to me, too, Charlie. Also adapting "sweet spot" somehow.
Charles Stanford May 29, 2014:
We talk about the "cherry on top of the cake" - maybe you could do something with that (playing on the wedding cake reference). Maybe someone will put me right but "sweet ending" or any variants of that would mean diddly squat to someone English-speaking.
Veronika Hansova (asker) May 29, 2014:
I kind of like Jan's idea with the sweet ending :) Unless anyone else comes up with a more fitting expression, I will gladly use it :)

Not only about food but also about the end of a wedding day. It is a promotional text for a candy store (that actually has Sweet Dots in its name) that offer catering services for newly-weds. And the text goes like: ... naše kavárna bude sladkou tečkou celého svatebního dne.

reformulate or Puddings and desserts

We don't have a cunning little phrase for it I am afraid (or not one that springs readily to mind), so I think you would just have to ignore it or write your way around it. So if it is in a menu, just something neutral like "Puddings and desserts". If it is in the body of the text then maybe you could write your way around it, but there is no ready-made solution
