Spanish term

dispositivo de referencia

Spanish to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research ICT penetration in companies
En las microempresas la penetración total del teléfono móvil ha experimentado mayor crecimiento respecto al ejercicio anterior, ya que ha pasado del 72,4% en 2012 al 74,6% en 2013. Una vez más la penetración media del teléfono móvil supera a la del ordenador, convirtiéndose en el dispositivo de referencia en las empresas de menor tamaño.

Thanks :)

Peer comment(s):

agree Billh : de referencia tends to be a bitch to translate but I think this is probably the nearest to the meaning, although with the word standard having one if its less common meanings.// I think I might say 'standard of devices' to get the actual meaning across.

a must-have

I think 'dispositivo' is redundant - we all know that a phone is a device. I would say "which is becoming a must-have for small businesses".

I'm surprised the figure is so low - I would have thought it was close to 100%. Maybe this is a developing country they're talking about.

Note from asker:
Hi Phil :) Thanks for your answer and, believe it or not, the survey is talking about Spain!!!
