English term

bowler’s box

English to Spanish Art/Literary Sports / Fitness / Recreation Informal Lecturing / Cricket

JohnMcDove (asker) Jul 14, 2014:
Esto es lo que necesito: (bowler's square) http://www.mastersgames.com/rules/rounders-rules.htm The pitch features a bowler's square (2.5m) which is 7.5m from the batter's square (2m). 1 metre behind the batter's square the Backstop line should be marked. The four posts are positioned around the bowler's square as shown in the diagram (black lines show lines that should be marked; green lines are for measuring only).

Gracias, Patinba... ¡Vaya despiste el mío! Pensaba que había puesto algo del contexto...
You stand on the bowler’s box and you pitch, man. // bowler’s box: in the game of cricket, the square area of the playing field where the bowler stands.

cajón del lanzador

"Once the bowler has the ball and holds it in the air inside the box of the bowler
the runners can not progress past the post to which they are running."

I doubt if there is an "official" Spanish term.

That's what I'd suggest.
Note from asker:
Thank you, Donal. I'd take that if I use «cajón del lanzador», with the pertinent explanation I could not go very awry...

Look here: http://www.wandererscricket.com/glossary.html. There is also a photo.

Box -- Curiously known in cricket catalogues as an 'abdominal protector', this is a batsman's best friend and the first piece of cricket equipment a new player should own.

My bad previously. Ok. The only other reference I can find, even in English, to a Bowler's Box in Cricket, is on the score card. Here:

Good luck as this is a tough one.
Note from asker:

Mil gracias Patinba.
neutral DLyons : My first thought too. But batsmen, not bowlers, wear them.
