Daily shipments

A "traction" is a shipment of goods from the sorting centre to the distribution centre.
So its seems reasonable to translate "traction" in this context by "shipment".
It's possible that supply-chain or logistics specialists have a specific term for this.

agree rkillings : "hauls per day" is usual. They're counting truckloads, not just "shipments".

agree rkillings : Yep. Transport of the *container*, for sure. But empty backhauls happen, even at the most efficient carriers. They count as hauls, but do they count as shipments?/ And wouldn't they still count as 'tractions' by a tractor+driver, even with zero payload?

Only if they're with payloads (I would imagine).// From the definition of tractions I don't see how so. You could also just count them as delivery rounds, in which case you'd only count each entire trip and not the component parts.
