Hi all -
I am translating a document about a cardiac patient patient who has undergone a barrage of diagnostic testing including an EKG.
I am unsure as to how to translate this phrase, especially in view if the context.
Here is the context:
Paciente que el 21/Jul/2014 se intentó ubicar para seguimiento telefónico correspondiente a llamada intermedia entre V8 y V9 [la paciente se encontraba solo en seguimiento telefónico, ultimo consumo de medicamento el 24/Ago/2012 a las 7:00 am aproximadamente,...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

intermediate phone call between Visit 8 and Visit 9
The V refers to "Visita" ... as scheduled by the protocol for following subjects in the clinical trial. There is usually a schedule of visits (to check on the subjects's health, response to treatment, occurrence of adverse events) and they are V1, V2 ... etc. until the EOS (end-of-study) Visit.
Sometimes the visits aren't in-person, just follow-up phone calls.

: You don't need to say "intermediate", because you go on to say "between", so it's a tautology.

Hi Phil. I think you're right about the tautology, but it's not mine ... since the authors wrote it that way, I phrased it that way also.

No hay problema, no te preocupes. It does seem like a very long time between visits/follow-up checks.

: My concern is that insurance billers use 'intermediate visit' as opposed to 'brief' or 'extended'. I see these three terms on my EOBs and the fee varies proportionately. As far as I know, it isn't related to the diagnosis.

Hi Muriel, thanks. I would hold out for "intermediate" (if used at all) although I do find both online. Found this definition in a clinical trials glossary: "Intermediate Visit: Any visit following the baseline visit and prior to the final study visit."
