English term

Second Class Honour, Grade One

English to Spanish Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy Mark in Ireland
I am translating a letter stating that a studient has completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Arts Degree with Second Class Honour Grade one. It refers to Ireland. I don't know which is the exact equivalent in Spain. Would it be Honores de Segunda Clase, Grado Uno (Notable) or is there a better translation? Thanks in advance
Proposed translations (Spanish)
4 +2 Calificación global: Notable

Yes I know, I am sorry to repeat it again, I have decided to leave it in English and give an explanation in Spanish. Thank you very much.

Please check the glossaries . I've lost count of the number of times this term has come up. I'll give you a hint - it's got nothing to do with "Honores"

Calificación global: Notable

If you look at the link, numerically it would be: "Calificación global: Aprobado", which in Spain is from 5 to 6.9 over a total of 10 points. However, the qualification that best reflects it is "Calificación global: Notable", as it must be taken into account that it is not a numerical equivalent, but a different grading system (in Ireland one can pass with a 40%) and Notable stands for the second best grade, besides the particular "Matrícula de honor".

I would also retain the English original in parenthesis after the Spanish translation.

agree Charles Davis : Personally I would translate the English as "Segunda clase: primera división" and then put your proposed Spanish equivalent (with which I agree) in parentheses. Oh, and just leave out "Honours" entirely; it doesn't really mean anything.
