Danish term

dimitterende

Danish to English Medical Medical (general) Discharge summary
I am not sure what "dimitterende" might mean in the following context where a patient has a "dimitterende fornemmelse i halsen og i kæben". Any suggestions? Usually "dimitterende" refers to someone who has graduated from a school.

angina signs and symptoms squeezing or tightness with pain in neck and jaw:

Chest pain from angina can feel like pain due to other causes, such as heartburn, a muscle strain, or asthma. When in doubt, assume that the pain is related to your heart until proven otherwise, especially if you are experiencing pain that you have never felt before.

The classic chest pain from angina feels like ***significant pressure, squeezing, or tightness*** in the center of your chest. It has been described as feeling like a band across the chest or a weight pressing down on the chest. You may also feel pain in your left arm and shoulder, ***neck, and jaw***. Other possible sensations include indigestion, rapid or skipping heartbeat, or mild discomfort.

Additional context This was an elderly angina patient admitted w/ chest pain. They were aiming at discharge because he improved, but then his typical angina pain resumed the day before the "dimitterende" note. Just after the "dimitterende" note, it says that the patient's pain is totally different from his past angina pain.

I would say "diminishing" but b/c the word "fornemmelse" (feeling, sensation, impression or sense) follows it is a tricky sequence to translate.
Norskpro Dec 13, 2014:
"Dimittere" not only refers to someone who has graduated, but someone who is discharged, sent home. Could it be that the patient has sufficient "fornemmelse i halsen og kæben" to allow him to be discharged?

based on a dictionary note I made after a medical translation I did. Perhpas others will be able to substantiate this further.
Note from asker:
Thank you for your suggestion, David. However, I don't think it will work in this particular case; I failed to mention that it is immediately followed by "but no chest pain", which suggests that the patient did feel something, though not chest pain.
… unless it is supposed to mean that whatever the patient was feeling in his throat is going away, but that the chest pain is not going away (although it does not say brystsmerteNE, only brystsmerter). However, his condition is also described as "completely unchanged", and the day before he had "typical angina symptoms".
Peer comment(s):

agree Lise Leavitt : Gyldendal writes: af lat. dimittere, af dis- + mittere sende, afsende), bortsende. So it makes sense to say that it is a symptom, which is reduced as in 'going away' =)
