Norwegian term

styrbua

Norwegian to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping
Have come across this in a description of roles on board a trawler:

"De sitter riktignok i styrbua, men i likhet med Steinar, Tom og Bjørn er de simpelthen fiskere."

Is it something like "bridge"?

Thanks in advance!

Wheelhouse

Part of the bridge. See second paragraph: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_(nautical)

Peer comment(s):

agree Leif Henriksen : "Styrbua" is a dialectical form of the more proper '"styrehuset". However, on a modern trawler, I would consider using "bridge" instead.

agree Michael Ellis : I would say 'wheelhouse' fits the informal, dialect register of 'styrbua' better than 'bridge'.
